NYFW: BCBG Max Azria’s moderne meets fur

Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week’s runways are off to the races as BCBG has debuted their ready-to-wear Fall/Winter 2014 collection showing angular moderne styles with a healthy dose of vintage swagger and a touch of fur in all the right places.

The moderne angular and geoetric designs anchor the collection, creating bold silhouettes reminiscent of 80s futurism. Rainbow splashes in the form of accessories and bands highlight the collection as major pieces are showcased in basics such as whites, blacks and greys. Select pieces do feature silkscreens and prints reminiscent of black & white leopard, with silk-styles to add diversity.

Outerwear includes black leather looks, over-sized sweaters and Southwestern-inspired ponchos and earth-toned jackets. Long skirts and maxi-dresses mesh well with boots and get fashion-forward with the use of single-slits to show off a little bit of leg, supporting comfort and mobility as well.

This year, the use of faux-furs brought back a touch of snow-bunny fun to go with vintage elegance to lend focus to necklines. Aside from a few dyed pieces, most of the bold fur accents were kept in their natural coloring giving a fall flavor to the basics.
