Christian Siriano’s Fall Winter 2014 collection alludes to images of Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O in his NYFW FW2014 runway show. Capturing the height of Hollywood Golden Age glam, Siriano constructed a modern take on the Fifties silhouette.
Mixing lush fabrics and rich textures, his long coats and dresses suggest modern luxury with a classic touch. Yet there was also something irreverent about his silver floor-length gown and matching wide-brimmed hat. Siriano is clearly not willing to sacrifice fun for formality, with a metallic purple dress, a checkered pantsuit and a large overcoat in deep mauve. Meanwhile geometric, corset-like tops provided a welcome foil to the richly flowing bottoms of his gowns. The color palette was made up of dark grey tones, deep emerald and sage green, plum, silver and gold.
The vintage-inspired looks were brilliantly accessorized with boxy handbags, wide-brimmed hats and quaint, darling little shoes. Overall a sweeping embrace of Hollywood elegance with a touch of modern chic.
